S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat
is the sequel to
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl
Welcome back to "The Zone" and welcome to a more beautiful x-ray 1.6 engine.
Shortly after the events of
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl
, the government decides to step in and take control of Chernobyl NPP. The only thing they end up stepping into is, is a big pile of ----. Their operation fails and you, a Ukraine Security Service Agent, are sent in to find out why. Your first objective is to find the downed helicopters. And this is where the game first pisses me off. Yeah thats right, at teh beginning of the game I'm already pissed. I go straight to the first downed helicopter, only I CAN NOT go up the hill to it. You have to find away around to get up top to where the heli is even though it's RIGHT IN YOUR FACE! After getting past that minor issue though the game is phenomenal.
As with the other stalker games, "The Zone" is full of life and dangers. Every NPC you run across has a identity and their own name. STALKERS are always going somewhere and doing something. A lot of the decisions you make, quests your fulfill and whether or not certain NPC's live or die will affect the ending of the game.
I took a little more time with this game. Building up my wealth was way easier and I had Nimble (whome I am guessing is the same Nimble from
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky
) get me the best weapons possible. I got all my sniper rifles/pistols/armor from him. I love how you can further upgrade the weapons to fit your needs. It's great running around with a silenced weapon taking down the enemy before they know whats going on. For sniping I mainly used the Vintar BC (tide). When I upgraded my SVU to be silenced I used it more. When I wanted let Monolith know they pissed me off, I busted out the SVD Lynx for long ranged death.
GSC game world seriously needs to make like a STALKER.net and make an online version/mmo/something! With all the faction wars and the whole thing where duty/freedom/bandits where vying for control over certain parts of the zone (saw a lot of this in
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky
), I think it would translate well to an online game.
I eagerly wait to see what they do next.
For now, I'm going to watch
Stalker: A Film by Andrei Tarkovsky
